Welcome to Our Library!
Reading is at the heart of everything we do at Thakeham Primary School.
Being a fluent reader is a vital stepping stone towards success because being able to read unlocks access to the learning! Simple! Further, loving reading and enjoying being exposed to a wide variety of genres opens the mind, excites and instills a love of learning.
Being a confident reader allows a person to be the person they want to be.
With this in mind, we have placed our library at the centre of our school - both literally and figuratively. Recently refurbished, it contains a wide range of books and acts as a base for our therapy dogs, our reading dogs and various wonderful learning activities.
Every class rotates through the library every week for reading sessions.
The library is managed by our team of student leaders. We call them, Book Worms.
We are really proud of it and our children tell us they love it.
